To What Extent Can a Virtual Museum Replace a Physical One?
Digitization is one of the main challenges of the media development for many years. Almost any medium like sound, film, animation, music and text have been digitized. However some more rapidly than the others. the museum is not an exception to this rule. All over the world, museums, from the large to the small, are involved in a kind of digitization process.
This paper is dedicated to the virtual museum and its connection to physical museum. The main objective of this research is to investigate to what extent the virtual museum could replace the physical museum in the future. To answer this question, a number of issues are under discussion. The “visitors of museums” and the “museums” themselves have been consulted by two separate questionnaires. The analysis of the responses of these participants indicates the perspective of people on physical museums and virtual museums in future.
