Simulated Environments, Immersion and Interaction, June 24

MINI-SYMPOSIUM & GRADUATION PRESENTATION

Tuesday June 24 from 18h00 – 19h30 there will be a Media Technology mini-symposium on Simulated Environments, Immersion and Interaction in the Leiden University Hospital (LUMC) next to the railway station. It is organized by Media Technology student Peter Remmerswaal. All who are interested are gladly invited to come.

>> The first speaker will be Dr. Guido te Brake of the TNO Human Factors research institute. He will speak about testing the effectiveness of simulated environments. His presentation is entitled “Mobile navigation support in virtual environments”.

>> The second speaker is graduating Media Technology student Peter Remmerswaal. He will speak about the relationship between interaction and immersion in a virtual environment. His presentation is entitled “The Fantasy of Added Immersion Through Interactivity”.

The evening is presided over by Maarten Lamers. Following the presentations there is time for discussion and drinks!

TIME: Tuesday June 24, 18h00 – 19h30

PLACE: Sociëteit HePatho, inside the LUMC hospital, room K0-98.

HOW TO GET THERE: The LUMC hospital is directly behind Leiden Central railway station. If you arrive before 18h00, from the hospital’s main entrance, walk straight through the hospital. After exiting the hospital’s rear, immediately turn right. If you arrive after 18h00, walk between the hospital and parking-garage, following “EHBO”. Turn left after you passed “EHBO” and the bike racks.
