(Media Technology MSc programme, Leiden University)Are you seeing what I’m seeing
“Ik zie ik zie wat jij niet ziet” (I spy with my little eye) is a book about perception, written for audiences both young and old. It is an inquiry into our relation to reality. How do we perceive reality? Is your perception of reality the same as mine? And what is reality anyway? We try to approach these questions in an accessible way. Instead of aiming for completeness in either breadth or depth, our attempt is to touch upon topics that will inspire readers to formulate their own questions.

(Media Technology MSc programme, Leiden University)Experiments with the Projected Hollow Face Illusion
The Hollow Face Illusion is a well known and deeply studied optical illusion in which the observer perceives a concave shape as convex. In this paper we created a projection screen with an embedded hollow face. Using this screen, we experimented with a projected image on the hollow face that allowed us to vary certain aspects of the nature of the illusion such as shading, texture, etc… Finally, we discussed the practical applications of such a screen in public space.
When: Thursday August 27, 17h00 – 19h00.
Where: Theater Zeebelt in The Hague
