On April 7, the science section of the Volkskrant Dutch national newspaper featured a full page about the research into bio-digital hybrid games, by researcher/lecturer Maarten Lamers and former student Wim van Eck of the Media Technology group.
In bio-digital hybrid games, biological and digital components are merged into a gaming experience. Think of combining bacteria, cells, insects, mamals and computer games.
The work by Maarten and Wim was recently published at the EvoGames conference. It was an extension of the Media Technology MSc graduation research by Wim van Eck in 2006 into animal controlled computer games.
