From my mailbox (dated March 4). Kristian Rietveld works at LIACS room 138 and is a nice guy.

Dear all,

Vianney and I recently removed all old, unnecessary hardware from room 411. While this is old hardware from 2007 (with CPUs released in 2004), it is still suitable for use in hobby projects. For the specifications, see below.

Anybody who has interest in this hardware (complete machine or parts), let me know by e-mail this week. First come, first serve. Hardware that is not claimed will be trashed at the end of next week.

Specifications:

- CPU: Intel Pentium 4 531, 3.0GHz, 1 MB L2 Cache. *Capable of running 64-bit Intel code*
- 512MB DDR2 533 memory.
- Samsung 160GB 7200RPM SATA2 harddisk.
- Samsung SHS182D black DVD rewriter (IDE)
- IMPORTANT: there is *NO* operating system license included with the machine.

It’s possible to upgrade the memory by taking memory from unclaimed machines.

Best regards,
Kristian Rietveld

Kristian was so kind to move the remaining PCs to 406. In the spirit of reuse and recycling, please use for MT projects only, dissassemble wisely, and return after use.

There are 6 systems with 1GB RAM, 5 of them also with a 160GB hard disk. Could be useful for example for one off projects, semester exhibits not requiring huge computing power, etc.

See the cupboard in 406.
